Buick Regal fronts Buick’s 2011 efforts
Have you ever been embarrassed to drive with someone because of their car? Sure, we’ve all been there. I remember being young and having my aunt pick me up from school in her ANCIENT 1987 Buick Regal. Sure the car was a champ and she’d had it forever, but being young and easily embarrassed I hated it when she would pick me up from school. I could hear her coming long before I saw her. I remember it like it was yesterday-
the black two-tone care with a rusty hood and a missing passenger side door handle. Not to mention the entire backseat covered in duck tape to mend the rips and cigarette burns. Those are the memories I had when I would hear “Buick Regal”, but times have definitely changed! With the economy the way has been in the past couple of years, car companies are doing everything they can to get their numbers back to what they used to be.
One of the most noted companies during this time of change is GMC. They are doing a complete overhaul on the entire Buick line, and one of the biggest changes is to the Buick Regal. Gone are the vinyl roof and the bench seats! They are replaced with leather seats (on CXLs) soft touch plastic dash, optional navigation, and an overall sleek design. The 2011 Buick Regal is aimed at a younger buyer and is therefore sportier. Buick officials said that they would be happy to see the average age of the Regal buyer fall in the mid-forties range instead of where it is now in the mid sixties.
With the 2011 Regals hitting the Naples GMC Yukon Hybrid showrooms, word is getting out about this stylish new Buick. Thinking back to the 1987 Buick Regal that my aunt owned, the 2011 model is completely unrecognizable. Unfortunately, that older Regal is exactly what many potential buyers may think of before they have a chance to experience the new model. The challenge before Buick is to further spread the word about new Buicks and get butts into seats to let buyers know: The old Buick Regal is dead, long live the new Buick Regal!
Now back to my aunt, the die hard Regal fan- and yes, those do exist- she went searching at her local used cars Naples dealer for a new car and she was introduced to the new Buicks. Being the stylish woman she is, she was immediately drawn to the Regal. Long story short she bought a beautiful brand spankin’ new Regal and I am actually jealous of her car now…My how times have changed!
